Roberto Puglisi, MD

Dr. Puglisi joined South Florida Pediatric Surgeons in 1999. He attended Loyola College in Baltimore where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland Medical School.

 

Dr. Puglisi completed 5 years of general surgery training and an additional one year of research at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now known as Cooper University Hospital. He then successfully completed a two year fellowship specialty training in Pediatric Surgery at Miami Children's Hospital, now known as Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

 

Dr. Puglisi is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the AOA Medical Honor Society as well as several other adult and pediatric medical societies.

 

Dr. Puglisi has multiple publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented papers at National and International meetings.

Michele Markley large.jpg

Michele Markley, MD

Dr. Markley was born in South Florida and joined South Florida Pediatric Surgeons in 2001. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Medical Illustration as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Tulane University. She obtained her Medical Degree from University of Miami and completed her General Surgery Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Markley was a Senior Registrar at The Hospital For Sick Children and a Research Fellow at The Institute of Child Health both in London, England.

 

She completed her Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, OK.

Dr. Markley is certified by The American Board of Surgery, in both pediatric and adult general surgery. She is a member of The American Pediatric Surgical Association and a Fellow of both The American College of Surgeons and The American Academy of Pediatrics. She is the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director at Broward General Medical Center.

 

Dr. Markley has multiple publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented her work at National as well as International Meetings of her peers.

David Lasko, MD

Dr. Lasko joined South Florida Pediatric Surgeons in 2009. Dr. Lasko earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and his Masters of Science in Child Psychology from the University of Miami. He obtained his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed his General Surgery Residency and two-year research fellowship at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Lasko then completed his Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Lasko is certified by The American Board of Surgery, in both pediatric and adult general surgery. He is a member of several professional societies in both adult and pediatric surgery.

 

Dr. Lasko has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters and has presented his work at national and internal meetings of pediatric surgeons and surgical scientists.

Ruchi Amin large.jpg

Ruchi Amin, MD

Dr. Amin joined South Florida Pediatric Surgeons in 2022. Dr. Amin received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Biology from the Stevens Institute of Technology and her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She completed General Surgery residency at East Carolina University. She also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Surgical Critical Care, followed by a year of Clinical Research at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Amin graduated Pediatric Surgery Fellowship from the University at Buffalo, where she was the inaugural recipient of the Donald Cherr, MD and Charles Schen, MD Exemplary Patient Care Award.

 

Dr. Amin is certified by The American Board of Surgery, in both pediatric and adult general surgery. Dr. Amin has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at both national and international conferences. She is also a member of several professional societies, as well as the past recipient of the prestigious Jameson L. Chassin, MD, FACS Award from the American College of Surgeons, in recognition of her compassion, technical skill, and devotion to science and learning.

Subhash Puranik, MD

Retired Founder

Dr. Puranik was the first Pediatric Surgeon in Broward County, Florida, establishing South Florida Pediatric Surgeons in 1977. Dr. Puranik is originally from India. After finishing his Medical School, he did his General Surgery Residency at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio and at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He completed his Pediatric Surgical Fellowship at Variety Children's Hospital, now know as Nicklaus Children's Hospital. He also served as instructor in Pediatric Surgery after completing his Fellowship.

Dr. Puranik is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General and Pediatric Surgery. He is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Puranik previously served as Director of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Trauma at Broward General Medical Center for 16 years, from 1990 through 2006.

 

He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. Dr Puranik is now retired.
